Welcome to the Haslingfield Art and Craft Workshop. This is where children can be creative, messy and have lots of fun in our local Village Hall. Every week we try a new craft or painting activity in a secure friendly environment.
No experience is necessary as all the projects are designed to be fun and encourage creativity and confidence in art.
Please scroll through the pictures below and take a look at some of the projects we have made over the last 5 years.
Some of our activities have included paper mache, salt dough, glass painting, model making, miniature gardens, mask design, flower arranging, pavement art, vegetable models, clay work, mosaics, t shirt painting, Silk painting, outdoor sculpture, shell craft, easter bonnets, Christmas crafts and making scarecrows for the village Scarecrow festival.
Haslingfield Art and Craft workshop was founded in 2008 by Prue van der Hoorn for children aged 6 ~ 11years. Prue trained as a graphic artist and illustrator at the Cambridge school of art. She has worked in advertising and then for several years as a part time teaching assistant at Barton Primary school where she set up an after school Art club. During this time Prue was painting and exhibiting artwork and beginning to teach adults watercolour painting.
From 1990 Prue was asked to teach adults arts and crafts for the WEA and consequently decided to take a teaching qualification. Since then she has run several workshops some for the National Trust at Wimpole Hall. Prue has given demonstrations to the WI in glasspainting and Silk painting and now teaches watercolour painting at Cambourne and Chesterton.
